John Barnett - Senior Pastor

-Master of Divinity
-Doctor of Ministry
-Founding Pastor of CBC in 1992

John's personality can be summed up relatively easy: He is a people-loving extrovert. He is wonderfully balanced by his amazing wife, Teresa, to whom he has been married for 27 years. They have two children, John Briggs and Tiffany. John Briggs is a graduate of the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, class of 2006. He attended USNA because he believes God has called him to be a leader. He is currently serving as a navy officer on submarine duty. John and Teresa are very proud not only of his accomplishments, but also of his love for God and his desire to be a witness at USNA. Their daughter Tiffany is attending North Greenville College. Her love of life and concern for people is always an inspiration to others to simply love others more.

John grew up in South America (with his Dad being in international business), New York and California and has spent the last 30 years in SC. Because of his upbringing, John loves traveling to see and study unique cultures. This has given him a greater understanding of Paul's admonition for us "when in Rome", be Roman, and when in Jerusalem, be Jewish, for the sake of the gospel. John feels at ease with different cultures and relates to each one in order to bring Christ to them.

In his down time you can find John taking a motorcycle trip in the mountains with his wife and friends or hunting and fishing. John says, "There is nothing like sitting in a tree-stand meditating and reading to refresh the soul, or the rush of wind as you ride down a country road on a motorcycle to clear the mind and invigorate the heart".

As a pastor, John's spiritual gift and passion is to minister the Word of God so people will experience the grace of God and be drawn into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is his conviction that ultimate happiness and life are found in nothing else but a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and by no merit of our own. It is all of grace.

Jay Harlan - Administrative Pastor

-M.A. in Bible
-Currently working on a M.A. in Biblical Counseling

Jay grew up in Michigan and then transplanted to South Carolina in 1979 where he spent 8 years finishing two college degrees and helping his wife, Gina, finish hers before moving to Gina’s home state of Georgia. Jay and Gina ministered in Fayetteville, Georgia for thirteen years before the Lord moved them towards a new home and another degree. Through God’s incredible leading Jay now finds himself intricately involved in the ministry of Community Bible Church as Administrative Pastor and as a counselor.

Whether on the golf course still trying to find his swing or working in his downstairs workshop, Jay enjoys being active. Between jogging, taking walks with Gina, and his new found interest in cycling, Jay strives to stay healthy mentally as well as spiritually.

Jay’s passion is helping people see how the truth of God’s word applies to their lives and watching those lives be transformed by living in obedience to Christ. Whether in his office or on the golf course Jay enjoys the challenge of digging into the minds and hearts of people to figure out what makes them click and then offering biblical solutions

Stephanie Carroll - Administrative Assistant

Stephanie, her husband, Sean, and two sons Dallas and Logan moved to South Carolina in the summer of 2003 from northern California.  They began attending CBC in September.  In March of 2005, Stephanie took a part-time position as Financial Secretary at CBC.  By June she assumed the full-time staff posistion of Administrative Assistant.

Sean and Stephanie have enjoyed being CARE group leaders for the past four years.  They personally experienced God radically transforming their lives within the context of a small group; therefore, it has been their passion to see members from the body of Christ come together in transparent fellowship.  They are currently the CARE group coordinators and are seeking ways to train the leadership of the groups and launch more groups.

Stephanie has attended the Biblical Counseling Training Conference in Indiana.  She loves working with the ladies of CBC, whether it is in a Bible study setting, one-on-one counseling, group discipleship, or Connections ministry events.  She has recently gotten involved with the teen girls and is leading a Bible study within their Sunday evening CARE group.

With two teenage sons, you can find the Carroll family at different sporting events throughout the year, from cross country, to basketball, to track. They are an active family.  They have adopted Clemson as their own and follow most of their sporting events as well.  The beauty of the outdoors calls to them in many different forms; whether camping, hiking, going to the mountains, lake, or beach, they love admiring and enjoying the Creator's gifts.

Steve Hicks - Family Ministries Director

Steve and Cassie, along with their daughters Kelsea, Autumn, and Jaylyn, have been active in CBC for many years.  When God opened the door for Steve to become part of the CBC staff as Family Ministries Director, it was a dream realized for them.  His passion for all  marriages and family to strengthen and serve God in all that they do has led him to pursue a masters degree in Pastoral Counseling at CIU and to attend the Biblical Counseling Training Conferences in Indiana.

Besides learning, Steve enjoys sports, especially football, hockey, and golf.  Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his family.

Andy DeLeonardis - Youth Ministry Director

Andy grew up in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, but moved to the Greenville area after graduating from high school. Since 1998, he has been attending Community Bible Church and serving in the children's church ministry where he met his wife, Amy, in spring of 2001. They have been married almost six years and are overjoyed to have welcomed Landon, their first child, into their lives this February. Andy owns his own flooring installation business.

Andy and his wife are excited to be working with the senior high youth and are passionate about growing the youth in their relationship with God. When asked what Biblical truth Andy most passionately wants the teens to take away from their time in youth group, he responded, "It's hard to pick one truth, but overall, I want to see the teens make their faith in God an active part of everyday life."

Realizing the challenges of being a new parent, owning his own business, and pouring his life into the youth, he earnestly seeks your prayer, Biblical counsel, and encouragement.

Fun facts to know about Andy are that he is a huge Penn State football fan, a New York Mets baseball fan, enjoys history, and was taught to cut hair by his grandfather, a barber for over 50 years.

Jim Fox - Worship Coordinator

Jim Fox grew up as an MK in Portugal (Azores), and attended various classes during junior high and high school at Conservatorio Regional de Ponta Delgada. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in 1994 in the States and a Master of Arts in Bible in 1996.  In 2005, he completed his Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling to enable him to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice.  He uses his degrees and knowledge to help free people from the bondage of religion and point them to an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.  Part of this passion is coming alongside people who are struggling with various kinds of emotional, spiritual, and relational difficulties in order to help them connect to God's transforming power and purposes.

Jim loves to connect with God by using and playing music and other creative expressions.  When he finds time, he enjoys writing and arranging music and jamming freestyle with musical friends.  His hobbies include gardening, raising chickens, motorcycling, and fitness.

He and his family--Karen (a Registered Nurse), Rachel and Anthony--have been at CBC since 1998.
