In the spring of 1991 Heritage Bible Church purchased property in the Powdersville/Wren area, one of the state's fastest growing communities. John Barnett who was the youth and family pastor at Heritage wanted to pursue a pastorate of his own. It was in March 1992 that John began the church plant in the Powdersville/Wren area with the first church meetings being held in the Wren High School auditorium.

Community Bible grew so quickly that we needed to build our own church building. Construction began in July of 1993 and continued with volunteer labor until February of 1994 when the building was completed and paid in full. With great joy and pride we dedicated the church building to the glory of God Sunday, March 27th, 1994.

At the time of the church dedication attendance was running consistently around 160 people. In 2002 Community Bible Church averaged 400+ people each Sunday and we continue to grow steadily. Not only has the attendance grown, but our ministries have expanded as well - from children's and youth ministries to ladies and men's as well as outreach, benevolence and missions. Our desire as a church is for every member of CBC to use their talents and gifts to honor Christ and be an active member of His body. It is exciting to see our people ministering each Sunday and throughout the week in the areas that God has blessed them.

Matthew 28:18-20
Believing that all good things flow from the good news of Jesus Christ, we share His vision for: Making disciples, Training disciples and Sending disciples, therefore we value:
1. The teaching of the Word that the Gospel might be lived.
2. The fellowship of the believers that the Gospel might be experienced.
3. The unity of the true Church that the ministry of the Gospel might be shared.
4. The loving pursuit of the lost, both home and abroad, that the Gospel might save.
5. Developing leadership to serve the Church that the Gospel might flourish.
6. Change both personally and culturally, that the Gospel might be relevant
7. Worship, personally and corporately, that the Author of the Gospel might be honored.
8. Prayer that the will of God might be accomplished, according to His good pleasure.

Our Mission
Community Bible Church exists to permeate the Upstate with the good news of Jesus Christ, to assimilate them into a local body of believers, to equip them for servant-leadership here and around the world and to passionately worship God in His glory.

Our Vision
The vision of Community Bible Church is to make, train and send disciples.

Growing numerically and expanding our physical plant is a distinctly secondary priority. We want the disciples in this church to be prepared to go to co-workers, neighbors, cities (both here and abroad) on a short and long-term basis and function in a leadership capacity.
