Safely in from the East

Thank you so much for your prayer support while we were in Koh Kong, Cambodia! The team safely returned from Cambodia this past Saturday night. We're all slowly adjusting to the 12-hour time difference and trying to catch up with life and work here in the U.S.

Our time in Koh Kong was especially blessed of the Lord.  At the outset our village clinic schedule was changed by the regional health authorities, but that certainly didn't hinder the Lord from working. It did mean, however, that our transportation was mostly on main roads, as each of our clinics were held in local health centers. We did travel by boat to one village to show a gospel film at night, and to hold a baptism on Sunday morning at a sand bar in the middle of the wide river. And some of us traveled by motorcycle to reach one village.

During the 5 days of clinics, in 4 different villages, the gospel was presented clearly. Preaching started each half-day of clinics, and one-on-one witnessing was conducted throughout each day. In every location Cambodians listened attentively, and they were especially attentive in locations where the gospel had not been presented previously. In a strongly-Buddhist culture, many know very little about Jesus Christ, and some have---sadly---never even heard of Him. A total of 740 patients were seen, so we stayed plenty busy. Many more than this heard the gospel, and even more gratefully received gospel literature. But we especially rejoiced for the 12 people who were dealt with individually and prayed to receive Christ as Savior.

We used 6 young Cambodians as translators, and 4 of these do not yet know Christ, although they are familiar with the gospel. Each of these were challenged regarding their need to receive Christ, but are still calculating the social price they might pay to follow the Lord. One local doctor and his wife were also challenged by a clear presentation of the gospel, but have not yet trusted Christ. We praise the Lord for the opportunities we had with each of these to demonstrate the grace of God. Frequently the team visits have a significant, lasting impact on these young Cambodians, and we pray that this trip will be no different.

During our time in southeast Asia, we frequently thanked the Lord for those of you who were praying with us, acknowledging that we were completely dependent on His work through us. Fruit from this trip can be accredited to your account. Please pray that God will continue to work in hearts and lives in Koh Kong.
