The Curtis Family in Scotland and Rutherford House |
After moving to Edinburgh, Scotland, to pursue a PhD, Jason Curtis and his family now make Scotland their home in order for Jason to work as the director of Rutherford House. The vision of Rutherford House is to provide Scotland’s clergy with pastoral support, research tools, help in starting small-group ministries, and resources. The resources for study and encouragement are little to none, and a pastor is most often alone in his parish church. Just finding one minister for a church in the city of over ½ million is almost impossible. The Rutherford House ministry wants to keep the evangelical ministry alive in Scotland. During the spring of 2010, the staff of the Rutherford House is preparing a course geared towards ministers and building a healthy church and a course for lay people. The courses are scheduled to launch in the fall. These courses can provide a real opportunity to serve the church in Scotland. A couple of more churches have asked Rutherford House (Jason) to take them through a church revitalization program, similar to Embers to a Flame in the States. Jason teaches in the divinity school at Edinburgh University. This teaching position allows him to hold an evangelical presence in the university as he teaches and supervises PhD students. Pray for God to work through Jason as he trains the students. The opportunity is huge and daunting, he says, so they will start small and expand when the resources and volunteers come in. The Curtises ask that we come visit them, pray for them, and come minister with them. |
